Young People

One of the main tasks of the church is to pass on the Christian faith to children and young people, and to provide opportunities for families to grow in faith together.  We have groups across the parishes to meet those needs.

MESSY CHURCH:  2nd Friday of each month

Messy Church is for people of all ages who like making arty crafty things and who  want to learn more about Jesus.  Children who come along must be with their own mum or  dad, grandparent, or carer.

We meet in the Church Centre at 3.30 pm, when we settle down for a game, a drink and biscuit  and a Bible story.

As everyone enjoys the activities based around the story, the hall becomes a hive of activity.    It can get very messy - hence the name Messy Church.

At about 5pm, we head over to St Mary's Church for our time of worship.

The service is quite short (10-15 mins) and very informal.  We learn new songs and we talk  about what we've made and what we've learnt.  At the end we say the Messy Grace (a short  thank you prayer with actions) before going back to the Church Centre for our tea. (We  especially love sausages, fish fingers, pizza and chips!)

When we go home, there's a take home sheet for everyone so that there's plenty to carry on  sharing in the family - especially a prayer for the month.

Messy church is free (although we always have a donations box out in the hall in case anyone  is able to make a contribution).  HUGE THANKS to Ladies Link, for their sponsorship.

Why not come along and join in the fun?

YOUNG DISCIPLES - ST. Mary's Junior Church

Young disciples meet every Sunday of the month at St. Mary Magdalene.

We start off in church with everyone else,  then we make our way to the Church Centre where  we have lots of fun learning about God and  about Jesus' life and his love for us.

We have our own songs and prayers before going back to Church for Holy Communion.

At St. Cuthbert's and St. Chad's we have a Children's Corner where there are books, toys and puzzles to make younger ones welcome.
