It's not far off . Now in its fifth great year. The annual St Mary’s beer festival will soon be underway at St Mary Magdalene Church, Vicarage Fields, Albrighton following its great success in previous years. Proceeds will go towards restoration of the magnificent Chancel East Window. The dates for your diary are Friday 25th and Saturday 26th May 2018. Two days before the Spring Bank Holiday.
The brainchild of Vicar Jill Warren and Organists David Smith and Gerald Leach and championed subsequently by Vicar Mary Thomas, the festival has previously seen hundreds converge on the church for a springtime gathering to celebrate the mutual enjoyment of quality ales and good conversation.
Friday and Saturday May 25th and 26th will again see part of the unlikely venue transformed into a lofty, convivial pub where fine ale and craft beer enthusiasts from far and wide will gather, with church and village regulars, to quaff a carefully chosen selection of refreshing beers. There will be many contributors providing perfect blends of malt, yeast, barley and water. Succulent snacks will be available, local musical talent will be performing and The Dirty Rockin Scoundrels will be returning, by popular demand, on the Saturday.
Vicar Mary commented, “The uniqueness of our beautiful church! The great range of beers and the wonderful entertainment all seem to combine to create a lovely atmosphere to share with locals and visitors”.
